I like this image. I do wonder how it might have looked had the bowl containing the fruit been either "blue" or "green" in color. I feel the complexity of the lines of the fruit matched against the uniformity of the lines of the tiles is a good contrast, yet maybe the transition of color between the 2 makes them clash a little too much. That's why I would like to see the same image with the bowl being either blue or green. I think a darker hue blue would really set it off. (in a good way) That melon looks delicious. o_o ... mmmmm summer is tasty.
oh, finally, and answer I was looking for! now I see it, thank you! yes, that might be actually the biggest problem, two similar and soft colors collide without big difference in between! problem was that I really liked the color of the bowl, and how it matched with melon, but you cannot see it nicely here. but I still decided to go for it...
The focus seems a little off, and I'm not a fan of how much the orange of the fruit clashes with the red of the table cloth. When you focus on the red low-lights in the fruit it get especially weird. I think the offset of the neat squares on the table vs the messy squares of the fruit is also somehow a little off, but I can't put my finger on how...(which is annoying since I love the idea of that in theory) maybe if the cloth squares were horizontal rather then diagonal to cut down on the general level of chaos my eyes see?
with time I have realized focus is completely off. I guess I took to many pics and then chose wrong one. then, squares and pieces - true, true. it is too messy and colors are just crazy. I will try more and more again to take better shots - I bought new melon also, since it is piece of colorful paper, beneath metal grid, I might change it as well. will see. I started to preoccupy with this photo, started to hate it and want to erase it, but now I really want to learn from this mistake and thank you a lot for your time and comment!
Perhaps with a wider field of depth (I mean smaller diaphragm, not that much into technical photography language) the image might have been "flatter" and even more of a slap in the face. The focus seems on the grid here, with the fruit perhaps slightly out of focus, but it might as well just be an illusion. I like it anyway
well, thank you! I guess I have mistaken on focus, now I see it more and more. at first, I was rather oblivious to it, I blame amount of photos I took it is just that it is not so bad, but again, not nearly satisfying result as I hoped for
thought of just erasing it, but mistakes are there to learn from, so thank you for input
